Led the creation of a new financial design system for AliExpress Installments as part of the platform’s global redesign. Delivered scalable UI components and redesigned all installment flows to align with the new AliExpress visual language, enabling faster launches of financial features
Context
AliExpress already offered BNPL plans for 2, 4, and 6 months. As the platform entered a full redesign, the financial department needed a dedicated design system aligned with the new brand identity. I was responsible for creating this system and applying it to all installment-related user flows.
Objective
Redesign the installment experience and build a scalable design system that supports future financial products, while staying fully consistent with the evolving AliExpress design language.
Challenges
The overall platform style was still being defined, requiring adaptability and independent design decision-making.
Alignment with complex financial logic while maintaining UI clarity and UX simplicity.
Creating universal patterns that could work across product pages, checkout flows, and personal finance dashboards.
Scope of Work
Defined design tokens, grid system, typography, color logic, and interaction principles.
Created scalable UI components: input fields, payment timelines, calculators, sliders, modals, and system-level patterns.
Fully redesigned all core installment screens:
Product page installment widget
Application form and card binding flow
Success confirmation
Personal account with payment schedule and installment management
Result
The new design system reduced the delivery time for financial features by around 30%, thanks to reusable components and unified UX logic. It also improved cross-team alignment and became the foundation for future product growth.
